In many countries around the world, April 18 is celebrated as the International Day for Monuments and Sites. This year marks the 40th anniversary of this observance.
In 1982, the celebration of this day was proposed by the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
A year later, the proposal was approved by UNESCO.
