Membership in MESCA Foundation
We are proud to be a member of the MESCA Foundation (Medical Excellence and Science in Central Asia) — a non-profit organization established in Switzerland in 2021 and active in Uzbekistan since 2022. The foundation focuses on promoting medical research, healthcare innovation, training, and improving public health across Central Asia.As a member institution, Abu Ali Ibn Sino Bukhara State Medical Institute collaborates with MESCA in areas such as: joint research and clinical projects, training and capacity building of students, medical professionals, exchange of knowledge and resources.

17.2.2 Cross sectoral dialogue about SDGs
in 2023, Bukhara State Medical Institute participated in cross-sectoral dialogue on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its membership in the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI). UNAI connects higher education institutions, governments, and NGOs to promote UN values and SDG implementation worldwide.

17.2.3 International collaboration data gathering for SDG
In 2023, Bukhara State Medical Institute participated in international collaboration on data gathering for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its engagement with the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) initiative. As part of this global network, the institute contributed institutional information and best practices related to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), supporting UNAI’s efforts to collect and monitor data on universities’ impact worldwide.
17.2.4 Collaboration for SDG best practice
In 2024, Bukhara State Medical Institute organized the International Forum of Students and Young Scientists on Morphology and Surgery, aimed at sharing best practices and innovative approaches in medical science and surgery. The event gathered representatives from more than ten higher education institutions across Uzbekistan, as well as participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
The forum included an international olympiad, conferences, and workshops that focused on exchanging knowledge and developing international best practices in surgery, anesthesiology, cardiology, and related fields. Participants reviewed the latest advancements in health research, contributing to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through international collaboration and comparative learning.
17.2.5 Collaboration with NGOs for SDGs
In 2024, Bukhara State Medical Institute organized an International Forum of Students and Young Scientists on the topic “Morphology and Surgery”.
The event involved active collaboration with non-governmental medical and educational organizations, such as regional medical associations, youth NGOs, and international partners from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
The forum included:
Student volunteering programmes focused on sharing medical knowledge and surgical skills.
Joint research sessions with NGO representatives and international experts aimed at improving healthcare education quality (SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being; SDG 4 – Quality Education).
Development of educational resources for young medical professionals through workshops and seminars led by both university and NGO specialists.
This collaboration contributed to strengthening partnerships between academia and civil society, supporting SDG implementation through medical education and innovation.
